Since the late 1940’s John F. Kennedy International Airport has been serving the greater New York City Metropolitan area. In addition to LaGuardia and Newark Airport, JFK Airport is the most busiest airport in the tristate area and 13th busiest in the U.S., The JFK airport is located in Jamaica, Queens and is about a 45-55 minute drive from Manhattan. It is a very easily accessible airport for visitors traveling in cars or via the various options provided by the New York City public transit system
The Van Wyck Expressway and JFK Expressway helps traffic flow in and out to the airport efficiently. Both expressways have connections from the Belk Parkway and provide access to the onsite parking areas at JFK Airport. JFK has a well-known long term airport parking lot near Federal Circle Station. Passengers can park at this lot and board the AirTrain to arrive at JFK’s terminal buildings.
The parking availability at JFK airport varies greatly through out the year. In the summer and high travel seasons, the terminal parking garages can maintain can reach capacity. Commonly, the airport has frequent garage closures to accommodate for construction and expansion projects. For the airport, pre-booked parking is always a good idea. Whether you are parking off-site or choose to park off-site pre-booking will help you save money and ensure you have a space ahead of time. The airport works with a couple of approved off-site airport providers but finding offsite shuttle services and hotels is easy. There are several independent lots near the Nassau Expressway, Lefferts Blvd. and , South Conduit Avenue, and off of Belt Pkwy.
In general parking is not cheap in or around JFK airport however, the most expensive option will be on-site parking. There are several long term parking services near the airport that provide valet and will have your car ready for you when you arrive back to the lot. Although, most are outdoor parking lots. If you have an early flight, staying at an airport hotel with free airport shuttle and parking included would be cost effective and the most convenient.
Onsite, there are 5 Terminal parking garages and 1 Long-Term Parking Lot. All lots are drive up friendly except for the lot at Federal Circle Station which is prepaid only.
